Bluestone Shaving Goods is a one-person workshop in Dunedin. I'm Dom, and I restore vintage straight razors: blades made a century or more ago by the cutlers of Sheffield and Germany, from steel meant to be honed, stropped and handed on rather than thrown away.
Most of them reach me tarnished, dull or long forgotten at the back of a drawer. Each one is cleaned, set back to a true edge on a progression of stones and finished by hand on natural stone, until it shaves the way it did when it first left the maker.
A well-kept razor never needs replacing, only honing. That's the quiet appeal of shaving this way: one good blade, a strop and a few minutes of care, in place of a drawer full of disposable cartridges.
Every listing describes the blade honestly, with its maker, grind and condition, flaws included. If you'd like to know more about a razor before buying, just ask.
